Just a quickie...

Good morning! Well, it is for us! At present, we are eating the best banana pancakes ever at our accommodation in Hoi An. Definitely a favourite for me, this town is full of charm and our room is a free-standing bungalow right beside a beautiful pool! The whole area is surrounded by draping vines and flowers of many kinds, hence the name 'Orchid Garden'. We are about to head off to a cooking class at Morning Glory Cooking School (also a cafe at which we have dined twice already!) which includes a trip to the markets to buy fresh goods, Vietnamese cooking philosophy and full rights to everything we cook - meaning I won't have to share!

We've come to Hoi An from Hue (The Imperial City) and I haven't kept things in order unfortunately, but I do intend to post about everything - even if it isn't in order! So stay tuned... We're enjoying the comments, thanks Jem and Rachel!

  1. Yum yum! What a good idea to learn how to cook some local cuisine. Can't wait till you show us how! I love that we can read about all the food highlights.

Thought it might tickle you to know that the prize on Master Chef last night was an 8 course tasting at Clooney!

We are definitely not swimming over here so make the most of it.

    Where's Jill's comment?

  2. It is wonderful to see the sights of Vietnam through your eyes and 'stomach'. You certainly have had some gastronomic delights.
Perhaps Jill will now not be adding to the comments as she is in Melbourne.
Great to be on holiday too but at such a different temperature I am sure.

    Enjoy ...Jenni

  3. Hee, hee it would not be Julia if we did not get a full food account along with the brill cutural experience. I love it and cant wait to sample the delicious new meals you will hopefully be recreating after your chef school experience. Still think the dinner in a cave sounds the best so far :)

  4. Thanks everyone! More food reportage to come - the cooking class was fantastic, and hugely informative. I would have been blown away if Jill had managed to comment (sorry Jill if you're reading this) and I haven't heard from her re: our assignment so I hope she doesn't have to do it in Australia! I hope you guys are all enjoying your holiday as well. I am having an awesome time but also looking forward to getting back (to work as well!) - there's no place like home :-)
