A few people told me that Facebook probably wouldn't work here and they were right, so I guess everyone will have to visit the blog to find out what is happening.
The weather in Hanoi is quite foggy and the temperature outside is about 24 degrees. Driving into the city centre from the airport was absolutely fascinating. The houses are very tall and narrow and most of the lights inside are dim and bluish. We saw cafe after cafe and many Vietnamese people hanging out on the side of the road (which is pretty much like a motorway).
The driving was fairly frightening and I have yet to decide whether or not I've learned from the experience. People pull out on scooters and motorbikes from any direction and not many drivers indicate before randomly changing lanes!
Adam has decided that after being confined to the small space you get on the plane that we will not be going into the Viet Cong tunnels - I support him whole-heartedly but more so because I heard there are giant biting insects of all kinds in there.
So, due to the fact that we have now been awake 24 hours, minus maybe 3 hours of sleep on the plane, we are hitting the hay.
Tomorrow, we explore, shop, relax and enjoy!
Hello Mrs Popovic, I read your blog today, hope your bags turn up and you have a great holiday seeing some amazing sights. I will check out your blog for the rest of your trip as I won't be in class next term to hear about your trip. Thanks for your goodbye and goodluck card, my family loved it.
ReplyDeleteHi James! What a nice surprise to read your comment! Our bags did turn up and we were extremely relieved. We've just come back from a boat trip in a place called Tam Coc which I'm just about to blog about now. Enjoy the rest of the term with Room 21. I'm glad you all liked the card!
